The Process
We inspect the chimney from the roofline and, where accessible, the flue interior, to find the source of leaks, cracks, or drafting problems.
We explain whether the chimney needs repointing, a partial rebuild, or a full rebuild, and provide a written estimate.
We repoint mortar joints, rebuild damaged masonry, replace the liner, or install a new cap and crown, matching existing brick and stone where possible.
We confirm the chimney is weathertight and, where applicable, drafting properly before we leave.

Service Area
VT1 Roofing & Chimney provides chimney services across four counties in New York and Connecticut, all within driving distance of our Putnam Valley base.
Putnam County, New York, sits between the Hudson River and the Connecticut border, roughly 50 miles north of Manhattan. Its housing stock ranges from 19th-century river villages in Philipstown to lakeside cottages converted into year-round homes. VT1 Roofing & Chimney is headquartered in Putnam Valley and serves every town in the county.
Westchester County, New York, borders Putnam County to the south and spans historic estate properties, postwar suburban development, and Hudson River villages. Northern Westchester in particular carries older housing stock with slate roofing, steep multi-plane rooflines, and masonry chimneys that require specialized repair. VT1 Roofing & Chimney serves the county's northern towns from its Putnam Valley base.
Dutchess County, New York, lies directly north of Putnam County along the Hudson River and the I-84 corridor. Southern Dutchess combines colonial-era village centers in Fishkill and Beacon with extensive postwar subdivision growth, so roof ages vary widely across the area. VT1 Roofing & Chimney serves southern Dutchess from its Putnam Valley headquarters.
Fairfield County, Connecticut, borders New York State east of Putnam County, clustered for VT1 around the I-84 corridor and Candlewood Lake. FAQ

It depends on how much of the structure is affected. Minor mortar damage can usually be repointed. Widespread cracking, leaning, or a failing crown often means a partial or full rebuild is more cost-effective than repeated patching. We give you a specific recommendation as part of the inspection.
Chimney leaks usually come from a damaged crown, cracked flashing where the chimney meets the roof, a missing or damaged cap, or deteriorated mortar joints. We inspect all four before recommending a fix.
